About

A shrub or small tree of the coastal wallum heathlands on deep sandy soils, growing up to 8m tall. Occurs from around 70km north of Bundaberg down to Sydney, including K'gari (Fraser Island), Moreton Island and North Stradbroke Island.

How to spot it

Shiny green, obovate to oblong leaves 3-22cm long with serrated margins. Green-yellow flower spikes 4-20cm tall made up of 800-1,700 individual flowers, typically flowering in autumn. Found in sandy wallum heath rather than rainforest.
