About
A tall hardwood named among the forest trees of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, with timber so resistant to marine borers and termites it was historically used for wharf piles.
How to spot it
Thick, deeply furrowed brown fibrous bark. Opposite, ovate-to-elliptical leaves 7-10cm long with recurved margins, and cream flowers fused into compound flowerheads of seven in spring.
