About

A densely branched, drought-hardy shrub of inland Australia and a familiar sight on the rocky slopes of the Flinders Ranges, prized by nectar-feeding birds for its long tubular flowers that bloom through the cooler months.

How to spot it

Highly variable leaves from thread-like to almost round, always smooth-edged. Tubular flowers 25-35mm long in pink, mauve, red, orange or yellow, the throat often (but not always) speckled with darker spots.
