About

K'gari's iconic timber tree, valued for fire- and termite-resistant wood historically used as mooring pylons in the Suez Canal. Some documented specimens at Pile Valley exceed 1,000 years old, with the Aboriginal name 'peebang'.

How to spot it

Reaches around 40m with trunk to 1m diameter, fibrous bark, large old-growth specimens visible at the Central Station picnic area.
