One of just three native woodland tree species on Rottnest Island (Wadjemup), alongside Rottnest Island teatree and Acacia rostellifera. Endemic to the Swan Coastal Plain, Rottnest Island and Garden Island, though now also naturalised more widely across southwest WA.
How to spot it
A slow-growing conifer 1-9m tall with fine, dense, rounded foliage. Brown-yellow-to-orange cones over 2cm wide appear October-January and don't split apart at maturity, unlike many related cypress-pines.
