About
A water lily of northern Australia's billabongs and floodplains, with violet, blue or white flowers held above the water. Every part of the plant - tuber, stem, flower and seed - has traditionally been eaten as bush tucker.
How to spot it
Floating rounded leaves and violet-to-white multi-petalled flowers rising on stalks above the water surface; look for it in permanent billabongs and slow floodplain channels.
