About
Described as rare on K'gari, this giant rainforest fern produces the largest fronds of any fern species on Earth, growing along creek banks in sheltered, well-drained gullies.
How to spot it
Enormous bipinnate fronds up to 9m long and 2.5m wide, trunk-like rhizome to 1m diameter, distinctive ear-shaped stipules (auricles) up to 15cm.
