Kangaroo Thorn

About

A dense, thorny wattle native to south-eastern Australia that readily regenerates from soil-stored seed after bushfire, forming thickets on the disturbed slopes and gully edges of Sturt Gorge in the Adelaide foothills.

How to spot it

Ribbed, arching branchlets armed with prominent spines at the base of each crinkly phyllode (leaf-like stem). Bright yellow, ball-shaped flower heads from August to November, followed by curled brown seed pods.
