Inland Scribbly Gum

A small to medium eucalypt endemic to NSW and the ACT, forming much of the dry forest cover on Black Mountain and Canberra's inner hills — the Canberra Centenary Trail's route up Mount Ainslie and through Black Mountain runs through this scribbly gum-stringybark forest.

How to spot it

Smooth yellowish bark shed in patches, marked with distinctive dark squiggly 'scribbles' left by the larvae of a scribbly gum moth. Lance-shaped adult leaves 55-150mm long and white flowers from September to February. Usually a single-trunked tree to about 15-20m with an open crown.
