About

A short-lived perennial legume of arid and semi-arid Australia, named after botanist Allan Cunningham. Its large greenish pea flowers, streaked fine black, resemble a bird's head perched on the stalk.

How to spot it

Shrub 1-3m tall with oval leaves around 30mm long; flowers are large, green with fine black streaking, unmistakably bird-shaped; pods are club-shaped, soft-green-haired, up to 50mm long.
