About

A striking white-barked gum of Central Australia's gorges and ranges, made famous internationally through Arrernte artist Albert Namatjira's watercolour paintings.

How to spot it

Smooth, powdery white to cream bark shed in thin patches, growing to around 20 m. Glossy green lance-shaped leaves and white summer flowers. Often seen clinging to rocky outcrops and gorge walls.
