Dryland Tea-tree (Moonah)

About

A gnarled, twisted-trunked small tree that forms distinctive low woodlands behind coastal dunes across southern Australia, tough enough to handle salt spray, wind and limestone soils that few other trees tolerate.

How to spot it

Rough, dark grey, often twisted or leaning trunk. Narrow linear leaves under 15mm long, and dense spikes of small cream-white flowers that smother the tree in summer, followed by woody spherical capsules.
