About

A striking red-flowered shrub of coastal limestone heath and woodland across southern Australia, its brilliant blooms among the earliest nectar sources for New Holland Honeyeaters each winter around the Eyre Peninsula.

How to spot it

Rounded blue-green leaves. Large, rich red pea-flowers up to 40mm long that stand out sharply against grey-green foliage, followed by long narrow seed pods 40-50mm long.
