About

A rare terrestrial orchid found nowhere outside the ACT, known from only a handful of small populations, including Mount Majura. Listed as Critically Endangered under the EPBC Act, with trampling by walkers, bikes and horses among its main threats.

How to spot it

A single narrow leaf (40-90mm long) and one greenish flower (12-20mm wide) marked with reddish-crimson lines and blotches, with a maroon-and-green heart-shaped labellum. Flowers late September to mid-October in the transitional zone between woodland and forest.
