Bopple Nut (Small-fruited Queensland Nut)

About

A wild relative of the commercial macadamia, native to Queensland and listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List and Vulnerable under the EPBC Act. Recorded growing within Kondalilla National Park on the Blackall Range.

How to spot it

Narrowly ovate leaves 9-12.5cm long arranged in whorls of three, stiff and leathery. Pink flowers 6-8.5mm long. Small nuts 14-22mm across with a smooth shell about 1mm thick, much smaller than the commercial macadamia nut.
